Abbott in Darkness

John Sanjay Abbott, a likable man admirable for his courage, perseverance, and family loyalty, is in debt, out of work, and has a rare genetic disorder that can kill him if he’s pushed too hard. He is hired by The Company as a forensics accountant, and he and his family are sent to the remote off-planet post Arrowhawk Station to investigate whether the traders there are skimming money. When he unexpectedly discovers the trade is based on gunrunning his mission soon morphs into a desperate fight to survive and protect his family. Butler’s (Witchy Eye) sf mystery is heightened by a dangerous alien species; economic intrigue involving complex commerce and interplanetary trade; and a setting that mixes advanced tech (hover trains, bio-enhancements, AI tutors) with the unpredictable terrors of the wilderness.
