Years after influencer, life coach, and clairvoyant Hailey Harris broke up with her high-school sweetheart, Liam, and had a vision that ruined the career of his best friend, former professional athlete Warren Mitchell, she has lost any tether to her pre-fame life. Using her gift to help clients may mean a successful business, but she’s lost any friends who know the real her. When Liam unexpectedly returns to the West Coast, Hailey sees an unhappy ending for his relationship with his new fiancée, Sonia. Determined to help Liam avoid a huge mistake, Hailey attempts to sabotage the upcoming nuptials, gaining an in when she teams up with Warren to plan their engagement party and wedding reception. Unfortunately, the novel’s predictable plot wears thin as foreseeable shenanigans ensue, and Hailey must weigh the costs of Operation Breakup against both a burgeoning friendship with Sonia and conflicting feelings for Warren, with whom she’s been playing a lackluster game of will-they-or-won’t-they. Though readers won’t be surprised by the ending, it still feels rushed.
VERDICT Snow (A Lot Like Forever) writes a formulaic enemies-to-lovers romance with a speculative twist set in Southern California.
