Ashes Never Lie

When arson investigators Walter Sharpe and Andrew Walker are called to the scene of a fire at a new housing development, former U.S. Marshal Walker is guessing that this will be just another boring case. He’s more intrigued with a different fire at a house where a corpse is discovered. The discovery of the body forces Sharpe and Walker to team up with homicide detectives Eve Ronin and Duncan Pavone (from another of Goldberg’s series) for a case that is more up Walker’s alley. They soon discover a cunning killer and arsonist with bigger ambitions than just one murder. At the same time, Sharpe and Walker’s first case leads to an undercover role for Walker’s wife as they investigate insurance fraud involving fires. But Ronin and Walker have to go rogue at a sci-fi convention to track a man who holds the fate of the country in his hands, with a vial that could spell death if the investigators can’t find the missing man.
