The 27th edition (the eighth one edited by Ockert) of this classic reference volume contains more than 3,000 elements of data, covering economic times from World War II to December 2021, with some documentation dating back to the early 1900s. This is the first in the long-running series that addresses the full effects of the COVID pandemic on the economy—the previous edition collected statistics only up until December 2020. As with earlier issues, this book is divided into two parts: one that covers data for the U.S. economy as a whole, and one that focuses on the individual industries that produce the GDP. All the data are publicly available and drawn from common federal data sources, but this volume gathers it all in one place, making it a ready reference that is useful for all types of libraries. Extensive background notes are included for each chapter, and descriptions of historical revisions to the data are provided in great detail, along with excellent footnotes and figures.
