Cat’s People

Children’s author Guerrero makes her adult debut exploring the lives of five lonely souls and the cat that unites them. Núria is a single-by-choice barista and a member of the Meow-Yorkers, a Brooklyn group that cares for feral cats. Bong is the local bodega owner and grieving widower. Omar is a mail carrier who dreams of a more fulfilling career. Collin is a bestselling novelist under the pressures of writing a new novel. Finally, there is Lily, a recent Georgia transplant who works at the grocery store, hoping to meet her long-lost sister, Núria. These characters have no idea that their lives will become entwined because of a spunky stray feline known as Cat. When Núria starts finding Post-it notes from an admirer, she’s clueless as to whom they could be from, but Cat just might know everyone’s secrets. After a series of chance encounters and a dramatic climax in which Cat falls ill, these five strangers find themselves connected in their affection for him and discover that together they each feel a little less alone.
