Entries begin with a portrait of the president and contain a biographical sketch of both the man himself and the First Family, information on each member of the cabinet, a chronology of significant term events, and primary-source materials. The entries are meticulously researched and accessible. Biographical material is distilled to outline the president's major life occurrences and is reduced further for the family members. Chronology entries range in length from one sentence to a full paragraph, and these events are presented with more context than is usually found in a time line.
VERDICT A welcome addition to any library looking to provide patrons with a one-stop resource on all of our nation's commanders in chief. It contains a wealth of information and will be a good starting point for related research.
