An excellent introduction provides the parameters that are explored in abundant detail in entries on the history of U.S. relations with individual counties. Biographies describe major Latin American leaders and key U.S. statesmen as well as the Latin American policies of U.S. Presidents. Major initiatives such as Kennedy's "Alliance for Progress" are analyzed, as are U.S. occupations such as that of the Dominican Republic in 1965 and commodities including bananas, coffee, copper, and oil.
