This important film focuses on the lack of training among Western medical personnel in treating illness through diet modification. The film is extremely critical of the medical "industry" and has a clearly negative opinion of how Western medicine currently treats disease. Throughout, leaders in nutrition and natural medicine discuss the healing powers of both raw foods and a balanced diet incorporating lots of vegetables. There is much commonsense advice here, e.g., eat raw vegetables generously as they are high in nutrients. Alternately, cloudier directives are also presented, e.g., that taking various supplements and vitamins will cure disease and/or decrease pain from chronic illness. Viewers might be dubious of these nutritional "cures," as they are not generally publicized in mainstream media or are infrequently addressed in patient-doctor conversations. Nevertheless, viewers with chronic conditions will benefit from this introduction to possible alternate takes on dealing with their situations. It will invite dialog on how Western medicine currently treats disease.â€â€Claire A. Moitra, Providence
