Reich's (The Prince of Risk) latest is a look into the technological possibilities of supercomputing, surveillance, hacking, gaming, and identity theft as they might impinge on the legalities of freedom, privacy, and law enforcement. FBI special agent Joe Grant and his confidential informant are killed at a dusty ranch outside Austin, TX. Joe's desperate voice mail to his wife, Mary, is somehow erased from her phone. The FBI first wants to examine the phone, then mysteriously neither wants to see it nor to look very far into the circumstances of Joe's murder. When Mary sets out to look for her husband's killers, much action, intrigue, and suspense follow. An excellent read by Paul Michael enhances an interesting and rewarding listen.
VERDICT This engaging thriller is a must for adult audio fiction collections.
