Fassett (
Quilts in Burano) is as well known for his fabric collections as he is for his quilt books. In his latest, he highlights his newest fabric collection in quilts in his historic hometown of Lavenham, England. The colorful fabrics are showcased in quilts placed against the background of buildings and scenery from the 15th century that make the colorful fabrics shine. The quilts themselves are familiar patterns, sometimes with a slight twist, but are used primarily to highlight the fabric from the collection. Each quilt pattern includes the name and yardage amount of the fabric used from the collection, followed by cutting and sewing instructions to construct the quilt. Full-color illustrations of the fabrics used and close-up images of the quilts will help quilters select materials and patterns. Black-and-white photos of sewing instructions assist with construction of the quilts. While the quilts are variations of familiar quilt patterns, the fabrics used add interesting depth to the patterns.
VERDICT The instructions are straight forward and similar to other quilting book instructions and are appropriate for beginners as well as experienced quilters. Recommended.
