After her mother died, Elizabeth fled her family and her small town to become a chef in New York City. Now, with her dream job slipping away and her estranged sister Jane facing chemotherapy, Elizabeth decides to return to Seattle and to her sibling's aid. Jane's illness forces Elizabeth to examine her life choices and priorities, and through time and a great deal of effort, our protagonist rediscovers the connections that she didn't realize she missed.
VERDICT Reay's second Jane Austen-inspired tale (after Dear Mr. Knightley) is a layered and nuanced story of faith and hope, enriched by complex but relatable characters. Recommended for lovers of character-driven women's fiction.
