Bendis and Maleev, the duo responsible for celebrated collaborations on Marvel Comics’ Daredevil and Moon Knight, present a coming-of-age crime thriller about a girl determined to forge an identity and reputation of her own, on her own terms. At just 16 years old, Emma supports herself through her ingenious inventions and as the creator of a popular webcomic. Her future seems bright until she’s approached by Zero Preston, a billionaire who reveals that Emma’s mother and father—who abandoned her as a child—were two of the most notorious criminal masterminds of all time. Preston further claims that Emma’s parents once robbed him of an immense sum of money and informs Emma that he expects her to make restitution for their transgression against him by orchestrating an impossible heist targeting one of his corporate rivals. With seemingly little choice but to comply, Emma adopts the moniker “Masterpiece” and sets out to assemble a heist team drawn from her close friends, cutting-edge outlaws, and her parents’ former criminal associates.
