Josephine Davis was her high school’s “It Girl” and was called “surface-level” for it by Will Grant, her best friend’s twin brother. She thinks she has escaped all of that in her mid-twenties, until Will literally runs into the bumper of her car on the way to work one morning. Since he’s temporarily in Austin, TX, for work, they begin to make amends as they develop a working relationship, merging her fashion brand and his consulting expertise. Gilmore expertly pens their relationship, showing how Josie and Will grew apart and then delicately back together and into themselves individually. Full of witty banter, shared mistakes, a great cast of characters (including Josie’s two-woman “biker gang” and her coworker/best friend, bride-to-be Cami), and even a sneaky Taylor Swift lyric (Swifties will pick up on it immediately), the story that unfolds is one readers will flock to.
VERDICT Perfect for fans of Emily Henry and Lana Ferguson, this book from Gilmore (Love Interest) is heartfelt, with a little grit and a lot of laughs.
