Rescue Cats: Portraits and Stories

Faced with numerous requests for a book on cats, animal photographer Scott (Shelter Dogs; Finding Home) put together more than 20 different stories of rescue cats various breeds, alongside portraits in which he captures each feline’s distinct personality. Some of the stories are difficult to read in the beginning; they’re about mistreatment, neglect, or just the random cruelty of nature. All are inspiring in the end, however, since each cat lives to its fullest with a new foster family or permanent home. For cat lovers and adoptive/foster feline parents, it is a worthwhile title. There are two extra guest-written sections by a cat behaviorist and a cat rescuer. Both add to the overall theme of the book: with some love, time, and care, any rescue cat can become part of the family. The book’s photos depict the most common cat behaviors: playing with toys, enjoying catnip, bathing, lounging, or interacting with furry siblings.
