In her debut book, sewing blogger Hulse offers a series of easy-to-intermediate projects with the weekend in mind—including both casual and date-night pieces that can be mixed and matched. Hulse uses both knit and woven fabrics, dispelling the myth that working with knits is only for experienced sewists, and the patterns include flattering basics such as T-shirts, A-line skirts, a button-front tank, a sundress (or beach cover-up), and a shift dress. Coordinating accessories, including bags, a belt, and dressed-up flip-flops, round out the collection. Printable patterns are included on a CD and also available as a download from the publisher's website.
VERDICT Hulse's instructions are a little bare bones, but sewists with beginner-level garment sewing experience should be able to follow along without much difficulty.
