Christmas is the busiest season for Amish widower Martin Rhodes, since he owns a Christmas tree farm. Making it even more challenging is his difficulty in finding anyone to watch his six energetic children while he runs the farm. After one day with the children, their elderly babysitter refuses to return, but she finds a replacement—Ruth Stutzman, recently laid off from her job. As Ruth restores order and brings happiness, Martin and the children begin to hope Ruth will join their family permanently.
VERDICT While the nanny and widower falling in love story line is certainly not new, New York Times best-selling author Gray writes a sweet Amish holiday romance with wonderfully endearing characters that transcends cliché. [See Prepub Alert, 4/6/14.]
