Running into her ex and learning he is now married; being chastised by her socialite "friends"; and the constant condemnation from her pretentious mother are the last straw for PR/event planner Margaret Stokes. She leaves Dallas for a much-needed getaway and spontaneously drives two hours north to her Grammy J's B and B in the wine country of Wilhelmsburg, TX. She hasn't set foot there in 16 years, not since her mother and grandmother had a falling out. At a local wine bar, she runs into an irritatingly sexy man who thinks he knows good wine but is really just another country bumpkin. Little does Margaret know that Ryan owns the winery next door. Grammy J is pleased to see her granddaughter but makes it known she has to work to earn her keep. Margaret is about to find out what love and friendship really mean when this little town, and, more important, Ryan, get under her skin in a way she never knew she needed.
VERDICT The chemistry between Ryan and Margaret is genuine, and the quaint vineyard backdrop and small-town atmosphere Goodman creates will enchant readers. Some of the backstory regarding Margaret's ex will be lost to those unfamiliar with Book 1 of the series, From Scratch. Better to start from there.
