Summer Stage

Moore (Vacationland) delivers a great beach read with her latest novel set on Block Island, a breezy tale about fame, family, and pursuing one’s dreams. High school English teacher Amy Trevino is pleasantly surprised when her 19-year-old daughter Sam shows up at their Rhode Island home, but Sam doesn’t stay long. Something clearly went wrong during Sam’s stint as a TikTok influencer, and dodging Amy’s questions, Sam holes up for the summer with her uncle Timothy Fleming, a famous actor, at a luxurious beach home. Timothy is a household name, still relevant in his 50s but starting to question his life choices. He agrees to direct his ex-wife in a summer-stock Shakespeare production and ropes Amy into serving as the production manager. Moore keeps the novel’s plot moving along and showcases relationships that seem real and based on deep love.
