In the third in the “Mercy Ridge Lawmen” series (after Safeguarding the Surrogate), heiress Olivia Nash recently broke up with deputy Leo Logan after pressure from her father, and they’re in the middle of a custody battle when Leo and Olivia have their lives threatened. Despite their frosty relationship, they’re on the same page about protecting their son. There’s an almost overwhelming number of revelations and events packed into a very short span; readers will either be unable to put the book down or will want to take frequent breathers.
VERDICT Overall this is a solid entry that series readers will enjoy.
