The Color of Always: An LGBTQIA+ Love Anthology

Creators from a broad range of queer experiences come together in these short stories celebrating love and intimacy. “Claddagh” is presented in the form of a letter describing the moment when the author realized she was in love with the addressee. Tarot cards lead to an eruption of passion in “Letting it Fall” and are a point of connection in “Ever More Myself,” on an androgynous character’s anxiety about how they are being perceived during a first date. Several stories forgo or downplay romance to explore identity issues; in “Sea Change,” a sailor swept overboard comes to terms with being nonbinary during an encounter with a gargantuan sea monster. A character hanging out in a nightclub reacts to being perceived as either too masculine or too feminine by repeatedly rushing to the restroom to adjust their appearance in “All That Glitters.”
