Hunter Osborn has a new neighbor: Jodi Bentley, who moves into the dilapidated house next door, one of only two houses in their secluded expanse of Triple Creek, CO. Hunter has a reason not to want people close but is intrigued when he witnesses the feisty, petite Jodi giving a well-deserved dressing down to the town’s resident sleazeball. Hunter extends an invitation to dinner at his house, and Jodi reluctantly agrees. It’s clear that she is fiercely independent and has major trust issues, but he’s determined to find out why and to deconstruct her walls in the process. When an intruder breaks into her house, they quickly realize more danger is imminent. Jodi will need to put her trust in Hunter in order to stop the threat before it’s too late.
VERDICT Even with sensual romantic scenes, Foster’s (Watching Over You) latest is a bit of a slow burn, and readers will wish for a deeper dive into Jodi’s backstory. Still, libraries should purchase this first in the new “Osborn Brothers” series for the author’s loyal fan base.
