Rosson offers the stunning conclusion to the duology that began with
Fever House. He skillfully manipulates the aftermath of the Message, the almost world-ending event that concluded the previous novel. The characters rush frenziedly in a rabid road race of destruction and terror to the thrilling finale. Rosson’s writing is gripping and completely sucks readers into the story. While the novel is action-packed, Rosson also takes care to wrap up the threads from the previous book and manages to weave them together in a most satisfying way. Themes of redemption, wild blasts of rock and roll, gory and gruesome goodness, and complete anarchy are the stock in trade of this novel, and it is a feast for the senses.
VERDICT A must-buy for libraries that purchased Fever House or for those interested in modern horror. This duology is a delight for both horror readers and fans of apocalyptic fiction. Recommend to those who liked The Stand by Stephen King, Zone One by Colson Whitehead, or The Rising by Brian Keene.
