Aidan Bishop has no memories of the time before he was found naked in the woods just behind Tuninas Software. He’s informed he was the executive assistant to the Dragon CEO of the company, Nassim Kader, and that he went missing four days earlier, but what happened to him and who he was is a complete blank in his mind. While Aidan can’t remember, Nassim can’t forget. Trying to allow time for Aidan’s memories to return on their own, Nassim hides that they had nearly finished their mating ritual just prior to Aidan’s disappearance. He lost his first Dragon mate to war 300 years before, and the thought of losing Aidan is more than he can handle. As facts about Aidan’s questionable past, including his true nature as a Storm Spirit, surface, the bond that holds them together is tested, as fears of betrayal and the pull of their natural instincts threaten to tear them apart.
VERDICT This latest installment in Burke’s “Golden Kingdom” series (after The Gryphon King’s Consort) is a heartwarming read. The relationship between Aidan and Nassim is built anew through the fiery pain of rediscovery of who each is alone, and what their love can achieve together. Highly recommended for fans of hot, paranormal romances.
