Comedian Pellegrino (How Do I Un-Remember This??) presents a hilarious assortment of holiday memories and misadventures. From cautionary candle tales to cookie cutter scams, listeners will laugh aloud at each X-mas escapade. The comedy isn’t limited to Christmas, however, as Pellegrino includes a queer Halloween haunting, Black Friday blackouts, and more. Nor are the stories strictly nonfiction, including the soap opera–style saga of Mrs. Claus pawning all the presents to go gambling and get her groove back. Pellegrino becomes listeners’ personal “unlikely angel,” exploring an emotional roller coaster of dysfunctional dinner parties, moments made and missed during the pandemic, and an ever-present reverence for his personal reason for the season: JC (Chasez, not Christ). Narrated by the author, each essay captures the chaos and joy that shaped different stages of his life; certainly, no one else could do justice to his mother’s meltdowns. He does mention sketches and snapshots that are available in print and, unfortunately, lost to audio audiences.
