The Land Beneath Us

Clay Paxton feels torn between two worlds as he struggles to become an Army Ranger at Camp Forrest in Tullahoma, TN. America is fighting a war with Germany, and he is combating racism in basic training for being half-Mexican. His recurring dreams tell him he’s meant to battle and die overseas, and nothing will stop him. He meets Leah Jones, a kindred soul. Leah was raised in an orphanage and was old enough to remember her real name was Thalia and she had two sisters. But she was separated from them and doesn’t know where she was originally adopted before her adoptive parents abandoned her. The only constant in her life has been her faith, and now her newly developing friendship with a soldier she met in the base library where she works. After tragedy strikes, will friendship be enough to save them both?
