Outdoor Photographer magazine editor-at-large and columnist Sheppard presents a useful introduction to landscape photography. His illustrations are stunning and the text is comprehensive, but Sheppard confines instruction to digital single-lens reflex cameras. A better volume for amateurs is National Geographic Ultimate Field Guide to Photography (rev. ed.), which comprises the finest in landscape photography and covers everything from D-SLR to cell-phone cameras.
