The dual story lines in this tenth entry in the “Black Jewels” series contain some rocky action, but there is obvious joy in bringing back beloved characters to a place where death does not always mean the end.
VERDICT Bishop’s many fans will welcome this latest installment, but new readers should start with the first book of this high fantasy series to be fully immersed in the multilayered world- and character-building.
