Plagued by guilt and anger, engineering student Max Cooper hasn't seen his family in years. When he decides to go home for his grandfather's funeral, he asks his apartment-mate Courtney Kaufman to go with him for moral support. Courtney agrees, not thinking that their Michigan-to-Rhode Island bike ride will spark a relationship that turns out—eventually—to be what both of them had desired. With quirky humor, spot-on dialog, and plenty of angst, this story features exceptional character growth and shows that Aguirre has a firm control of the new adult vibe along with the ability to spin a solid tale.
VERDICT A pair of unconventional protagonists with heartbreaking pasts find themselves—and each other
