OrangeReviewStarUK astronomy journalist Clark (The Sun Kings) presents 101 color images of cosmological phenomena and a time line of the cosmos in a volume that stands out among other such books. The term Voyager may mislead: these are photographs from many sources that enable the reader to voyage through space. Clark takes us through four zones of the universe, from the interplanetary to the intertemporal, with each uniquely indexed entry in the zones orienting us in space and time. He does not attempt a deeply comprehensive or intricate astronomical history, but each two-page portrait of phenomena celebrates the fascinating facts and mysteries of our cosmological world and how they interrelate.
VERDICT Visually enchanting, elegant, and filled with captivating details about our universe, this work will be "wow" reading for many, from gifted middle-school students on up. Clark's writing is highly accessible to the nonscientist and a treat for the amateur astronomer.
