H.W. Wilson has launched a WilsonWeb Mobile interface for smartphones and other mobile devices. The service is free for WilsonWeb subscribers and includes a text-to-speech converter, article translations into 13 languages, emailing of search results, and more (also see Cheryl LaGuardia's blog post for details on free access to the mobile interface with a trial of OmniFile Full Text Select Edition). The company has also added 21 databases to OCLC’s WorldCat Local central index. Eight more are accessible remotely via a Z39.50 search of Wilson Web. WorldCat Local combines items from the library and other sources in a single search.

ebrary’s Academic Complete ebook subscription database now exceeds 50,000 titles. The product includes reports, journals, maps, and more from over 425 publishers.

Dialog is joining with other patent database providers and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to present reduced or free access to specialized patent information for researchers, educators, and professionals in some of the world’s poorest countries.

EBSCO Publishing and the John Carter Brown Library, an independent research library affiliated with Brown University, have collaborated to offer a free digitized version of European Views of the Americas: 1493–1750, now available through EBSCOhost and at www.europeanamericana.com. It contains more than 32,000 entries and covers European exploration and portrayals of Native American peoples. In addition, two new bibliographic databases are available from EBSCO Publishing. Alternative Press Index contains journal, newspaper, and magazine articles from more than 300 international alternative, radical, and left-leaning periodicals from 1991 to the present. Alternative Press Index: Archive provides coverage from 1990 back to 1969.

Two more journals have joined the Oxford Open initiative from Oxford University Press (OUP). Journal of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Infectious Diseases, to be published by OUP on behalf of the Infectious Diseases Society of America in 2011, have become the 100th and 101st journals to participate.

Life sciences PDF search platform Pubget and web-based resource Study.Net both will use Copyright Clearance Center services by debuting a “get permissions feature.”

SAGE will now be publishing all 18 of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ (IME) academic journals, including the 16 IME proceedings. SAGE now publishes 49 mechanical engineering journals.

Atlas Systems’ Ares Reserves Management Software now has 50 licensees. Recent contracts include Simmons College, Boston; Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC; and Ryerson University, Toronto.

McGraw-Hill’s AccessEngineering 2.0 release includes a new subject category, software engineering; the addition of multimedia resources and articles from Engineering News-Record; full author biographies; and full contents of the McGraw-Hill Dictionary of Science and Technology.

CRC Press is the 2010 recipient of the award for “Best eBook Publisher” from the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers. CRCnetBASE offers subscription and purchase access to more than 7000 scientific and technical ebooks covering 40 disciplines.
