PI Jim Bean is initially hired by his biggest corporate client, an insurance company, to investigate a trailer that went up in flames in a Las Vegas trailer park. Something bothers Bean about the case. No one—not the police, the insurance company, or the fire department—seems to be concerned about the trailer’s missing tenant. By the time he solves the case to the satisfaction of his client, Bean is invested in finding the truth behind Emilee Beck’s disappearance. Emilee, on the run from her past imprisonment by the Outlaws gang, is on tape killing a gang member. She makes the mistake of growing too close to A. J. Ward, son of the powerful family that owns Ward’s Outdoor Adventures. A. J.’s uncle Calvin suspects Emilee knows too much about his side traffic in taxidermy and body parts. Now, the Wards, the police, and a gang, along with Jim Bean, are all searching for the missing Emilee, whom they chase from Las Vegas to the Utah wilderness.
