OrangeReviewStarA great complement to Meyerowitz's How Sex Changed (see above), this work offers a history of transgender people and their activism from the 1850s to the 21st century. Stryker begins with a very useful introduction to basic gender-related terms and concepts, including explanations of potentially offensive words. Essential for all libraries.
