Skernick’s landscape photographs showcase scenes from seven states across the Midwest. He lets his photography shine rather than burden it with wordy paragraphs. Photos are minimally labeled with route or street names, or sometimes with just town and state. The luscious photos of many backroad scenes feature fields, buildings, fall foliage, snow dustings, lighthouses, lakes, ponds and rivers, livestock, and wild animals. The collection of images gives readers a glimpse of the beauty of the region, which they may have missed on their own drives, or have never seen at all. Few photos include people. For the photography-curious and hobbyist, there is an appendix with in-depth information about cameras and lenses.
